Meet Our New Program Development Intern: Aleksandra “Sasha” Mayer

At the Institute for Civility, we believe meaningful change begins with people who are willing to listen, learn, and engage. That’s why we’re excited to welcome Aleksandra “Sasha” Mayer as our new Program Development Intern.
Sasha recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in History of Public Policy and Law. Her interest in civic engagement and public service has already taken her around the world. Over the past two summers, she worked as a policy analyst—first in Washington, D.C., and then in Prague—where she gained firsthand experience examining public policy and its impact on communities.
Through those experiences, Sasha discovered something that aligns closely with our mission: the importance of civility.
“My time as an analyst taught me the utmost importance of civility,” Sasha shared. “After spending my post-grad summer in Europe, I returned home this fall and felt a strong desire to engage in meaningful work during my gap years before law school.”
That desire led her to the Institute for Civility, where she will support program development efforts and help advance initiatives designed to reduce polarization, facilitate dialogue, and strengthen communities.
When she’s not contributing to Institute projects, Sasha enjoys spending time with friends, practicing yoga and Pilates, discovering new music, and occasionally indulging in historical dramas. Her current recommendation? The television series Victoria.
We’re thrilled to have Sasha on our team and look forward to the energy, insight, and passion she brings to our work.
Please join us in welcoming Sasha to the Institute for Civility!
