Institute for Civility Welcomes Two Dynamic Leaders to Its Team
[Houston, TX] — May 2, 2025 — The Institute for Civility is proud to announce the addition of two accomplished professionals to its leadership team: Carolyn Zasada, Director of Programs & Development, and Talysa (Lysa) McCall, Director of Communications. Both bring exceptional expertise, passion, and vision that will strengthen the Institute’s mission to reduce polarization and foster respectful dialogue across communities.
Carolyn Zasada, Director of Programs & Development. Carolyn is a combat-decorated Marine Corps veteran with a proven record of leadership in both military and civic life. She founded and operated a nonprofit supporting children in need and currently serves as an Alderman in DeKalb, Illinois, while also contributing to the Illinois Lt. Governor’s Military and Economic Development Commission.
She holds a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Economics. Carolyn is the proud mother of four and is deeply committed to mentorship, equity, and building thriving communities.
“One would expect the Institute would have a phenomenal workplace culture, but I’ve been blown away by the ceaseless wisdom, sincere guidance, yet true autonomy I’m experiencing. I look forward to continuing to grow in my role through mentorship that models all I aspire to,” said Zasada.
Talysa (Lysa) McCall, Director of Communications. Lysa is a seasoned Marketing and Communications professional with over 15 years of experience cultivating meaningful relationships with communities and stakeholders. A Louisiana native, she holds an MBA in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University.
As a dedicated military spouse of 14 years and mother of two, Lysa brings both personal and professional insight into fostering inclusion, equity, and authentic storytelling. When not amplifying voices through communications, she enjoys family life, travel, and creative projects.
“I am excited to join such an amazing team and organization that Cassandra, Tomas, and all of you have spent years building. I look forward to sprinkling some creativity to the mix and helping to shine an even bigger light on the great work being done!” said McCall.
Building Momentum for the Future
The addition of Carolyn and Lysa reflects the Institute’s continued growth and commitment to expanding its reach, strengthening programs, and engaging diverse communities nationwide.
